Integrating Carbon, Silicon, and Fiber for Health & Healthcare: Concepts, Education & TrainingThe keynote address will describe emerging requirements for successful health policy and care, care organizations, educational curriula, and professionalism, including biomedical and health informatics. Care in the 2010s will demand fewer experts exemplifying heroic individualism within command/control organizations versus systems capable of assuring consistent ouitcomes through ’smart’ teams using EHRs across time and distance. What will need to be the focus for education, research, practice and policy to create enjoyable professional careers in the emerging enviornment? The speaker will address each dimension above and discuss informatics as a professional discipline and how informatics can help mediate the needed transitions.
